Benefits of a Valid Driving License

Under Section 3 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, no person may drive a motor vehicle in a public place without a valid driving license for that class of vehicle. Driving without one can attract penalties under the Act.
A driving license is widely accepted as an identity and address document for KYC, banking, travel and other everyday purposes.
A valid license for the correct class of vehicle is important for motor insurance claims, and is required for driving-related jobs, ride-hailing and transport work.
Your license is recorded in the national Sarathi database and can be accessed digitally (e.g. DigiLocker / mParivahan). With an International Driving Permit (IDP), you can drive in many countries abroad.
No. A driving license is issued only after document verification, the learner’s test, the driving skill test, biometrics and approval by the Licensing Authority (RTO). Neither the Platform nor the Lawyer can guarantee issue of a license or a fixed timeline.
